Reduce your reliance on fossil fuels

This coming week some of the School of Veterinary Nursing staff are launching into a 10 week challenge to lose 10kg!  With this in mind I thought we might focus this week on how we transport ourselves around.

Every time we get in our car and drive somewhere we are adding carbon emissions to the atmosphere, burning fossil fuels, spending money and potentially missing an opportunity to get some exercise, burning calories and using our muscles so we don’t lose them!

So your challenge this week is to ask yourself every time you go to get in your car
  1. Do I need to make this trip?  Perhaps it could be done at a later time combined with other jobs.
  2. Can I make this trip by walking, jogging, biking or taking a bus?
  3. If the trip can’t be avoided - plan the trip to do as much as you can while you are out and your route, so you drive as little as possible.  And while you are out park a little further from your destination and walk that extra distance to use your muscles before you lose them! And check out the Fuelsaver website for tips on how to reduce fuel consumption:
Have a great and sustainable weekend.
